| 2010 General Rules & Procedures |
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein do not express or imply warranty of
safety from publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations; they
are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury.
All drivers must have a RACEceiver one way communication device.
All drivers must purchase a 2010 Hartford Motor Speedway drivers card for
$20 (all money raised will go towards point fund)
1. CONDITIONS
A. No alcoholic beverages or controlled substances are to be consumed before or during races by anyone entering the pit area.
B. Hartford Motor Speedway officials reserve the right to reject or allow the entry of any driver or car.
C. Rule changes or interpretation of rules is at the discretion of track officials.
D. The decision of track officials is final.
E. Suspensions will be strictly enforced for fighting or any other acts the management of Hartford Motor Speedway deem inappropriate. Any actions that need be will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
2. RACING RULES
A. At no time shall any non-competing member, crew member, owner or other person associated with a race car be permitted on the racing surface following the start of a race and prior to the final lap without the express permission of a Speedway official. Failure to do so could lead to immediate removal from speedway property. This rule is in place for your crewmembers safety.
B. Hartford Motor Speedway officials reserve the right to request a doctor’s release at any time, for a said driver to participate at Hartford Motor Speedway.
C. Driver and car changes are permitted only prior to the official start of a race. The official start of a race is when the field enters the track. When determining the official start, one lap does not have to be completed. However, scoring for position does not begin until one green flag lap has been completed. All cars will need to enter the track under their own power to get start money and points. After that point, no change of drivers is permitted. Driver changes may occur only if the driver is qualified for that said race. Any drivers making a change will go to the tail of the field. Points earned will be awarded to the driver starting the race. If a driver wishes to change cars prior to the event start, only the driver or crew chief is allowed to inform the official in the pit tower of the change prior to the start of the race. If this does not occur, the driver will forfeit all points and payout earned in the event. NO EXCEPTIONS.
D. On a yellow or red flag that happens on the start of a race, any car(s) that enter the pits will go to the tail of the field, even though a lap has not been completed. All repairs or adjustments to cars must be made in the pits. This includes portions of the race run under yellow or red flag conditions. Violation will result in the car being placed at the rear of the field.
E. Cars may only enter the track as directed from the pit steward.
F. No electronic communication devices are permitted within the car.
G. If a driver refuses the officials order to take a certain position on the track (i.e. go to the back of the field), resulting in a delay of the race, he/she will be penalized one lap or will be Black-flagged.
H. When the black flag has been displayed to a racecar, scoring of the car shown the flag will stop until the car returns to the track from the pits after the required consultation.
I. A driver meets rookie qualifications for his/her division if he/she raced in four or fewer races in a single previous season in that division.
G. All Hartford Motor Speedway ½ mile drivers must be a minimum of 16 years of age to compete.
3. RACE PROCEDURES
A. Typically a maximum of 24 cars will start the A Main.
B. Hartford Motor Speedway officials due to time or car count factors may shorten races.
C. Driver must attempt to start A or B main to be eligible for start money.
Yellow Flags
A. If you are involved in an accident & stop on the speedway at any time, you will be placed at the tail for the restart. If you are involved in 2 solo yellow flags during one race event, you will be disqualified from that event. If you are involved in a caution on the initial start, you will not receive your original starting spot back. You will go to the tail.
Starts and Restarts
A. Jumping on initial start of any event:
The front row will have two chances to start a race. If either driver jumps both of these starts, the entire front row goes to the tail for the next attempt.
Lapped Cars
A. Lapped cars will be placed at tail of the field for restarts in order of there running at the time of the caution.
RACE LENGTHS
A. All Heat Races will be 8 Laps in distance.
B. All B Mains will be 8 Laps in distance.

4. DRIVER/CREW MEMBER CONDUCT
A. Physical Altercations in the pits or on the speedway premises at any time is prohibited and subject to suspension or exclusion.
Anyone involved in any form of a physical altercation with a speedway employee will be suspended indefinitely and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
-1st Offense:
If you are involved in any physical altercation, you will be suspended for a minimum of the next four racing events. In an addition of the suspension, you will be required to pay a minimum fine of $500.00 before being allowed on the speedway property.
-2nd Offense:
If you are involved in a second physical altercation during the racing season, you will be suspended for a minimum of one year from date of this incident. In an addition of the suspension, you will be required to pay a minimum fine of $1000.00 before being allowed on the speedway property
B. The driver assumes responsibility for the actions of his or her pit crew at all times on speedway property. Drivers will be issued the following penalties for pit crew misconduct.
If any of the driver’s crew is involved in a physical altercation, you will be fined a minimum of $250.00 for each crewmembers actions. You will not be allowed to compete at the speedway until the fine or fines are paid in full.
C. Abuse of any Hartford Motor Speedway official and use of improper language or obscene gestures at any time is prohibited and subject to following penalties.
-1st Offense:
You will be escorted from speedway grounds, and suspended from one week of racing activities. Also you will be fined a minimum of $100.00, before being allowed on the speedway grounds.
-2nd Offense:
If are involved in a second incident during the race season, you will be escorted from speedway grounds, and suspended for four weeks of racing activities. Also you will be fined a minimum of $500.00, before being allowed on the speedway grounds.
-3rd Offense:
If are involved in a third incident during the race season, you will be escorted from speedway grounds, and suspended for one year of racing activities from the date of this incident. Also you will be fined a minimum of $1000.00, before being allowed on the speedway grounds.
D. Un-sportsmanlike driving, rough driving, or unnecessary bumping is prohibited and will result in removal from a race. If you are disqualified during any event for rough driving, the following penalties will result from these actions.
-1st Offense:
You will forfeit all prize money and points for that evening and be suspended from the speedway grounds for the next racing event.
-2nd Offense:
You will forfeit all prize money and points for that evening and be suspended from the speedway grounds for the next four racing events. Also you will have to pay a fine of a minimum of $250.00 before being allowed on the speedway property.
-3rd Offense:
You will forfeit all prize money and points for that evening and be suspended from the speedway grounds for one year from the date of this offense. Also you will have to pay a fine of a minimum of $500.00 before being allowed on the speedway property.
E. All fine money will go to the point fund.

2010 Stock Car (Factory Stock) Rules

GENERAL RULES AND PROCEDURES
1. The rules and/or regulations set forth herein do not express or imply
warranty of safety from publication of or compliance with these rules
and/or regulations; they are intended as a guide for the conduct of the
sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury.
2. Hartford Motor Speedway may at anytime make amendments to the rules set
forth.
3. Hartford Motor Speedway officials shall have full authority over
events. At the discretion of Hartford Speedway officials, any competitor
may be penalized for rule violations, hazardous actions or
assaults/threats against any official.
4. Any car may not compete without inspector approval. All Hartford Motor
Speedway race cars are subject to inspection by Hartford Motor Speedway
officials at any time.
5. The uses of pit boards or colored flashlights are prohibited.
6. No radios or mirrors are allowed
2010 Stock Car Rules
CHASSIS
1. American made cars with stock wheelbase of 107 inches or more.
2. Full Frame Cars only are allowed. Stock O.E.M. Frames only. (No
Firebirds or Camaros)
3. No altering of stock frame except to repair rusted rear frame rails.
Rear frame may be replaced from rear shock mounts back.
4. May put X in frame.
5. Drive Shaft loops are required within 12 inches of front U-joint. No
aluminum drive shafts.
6. All cars must weigh a minimum of 3000 LBS with driver.
SAFETY
1. A competition-type 4 point roll cage is required and must be
constructed with tubing that is a minimum of one and one-half inches in
diameter, with a minimum of .095 wall thickness. A minimum of three
horizontal door bars is required in the driver’s door (four bars highly
recommended). A minimum of three horizontal door bars is recommended for
the passenger’s side of the car. Three driver protection bars are required
in the windshield ahead of the driver. You may run front and rear bars
through the firewall, with 1 kicker bar to the frame. A radiator
protection bar is optional.
2. A competition-type racing seat is required. A full containment aluminum
seat is highly recommended.(no fiberglass seats allowed)
3. DRIVER HARNESS: Five point, three inch wide racing harness is
mandatory. It is VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that the belts are SFI approved
and no more than two (2) years old from date of manufacturing.
4. An approved, Snell SA 2000 or a Snell 2005 helmet(Snell sticker must be
in helmet) is required.
5. An approved complete racing fire suit and fireproof gloves is required.
Fireproof shoes, and neck collar are highly recommended. Also, a driver’s
side window net is required.
6. All batteries that are mounted inside the driver’s compartment must be
completely enclosed in a marine-type box with a lid, and mounted securely.
7. All weights must be securely mounted with two half inch bolts and be
painted white with the car number clearly marked. All weights must be
mounted under the body of the car.
8. Drive shafts must be painted white and must remain white all season.
9. Head and neck restraint system is strongly encouraged.
10. Fire extinguisher in drivers compartment required.
11. Fuel line from trunk to the engine compartment must be steel or steel
braided.
12. If fuel cell does not have aircraft style positive seal filler
neck/cap system - a flapper, spring or ball type filler rollover valve is
required.
13. Kill switch required within easy reach of driver and must be clearly
marked “OFF” and “ON”.
BODY
1. All glass, chrome, and upholstery must be removed.
2. Top may be removed to install the roll cage, but the top must be
replaced in the stock location.
3. Front OEM firewall may be replaced using steel fabricated firewall, 18
gauge or minimum 0.049 inch thickness. Top of firewall can be no further
back than 12 inches from the back of engine block, measured horizontally.
Bottom of firewall can be no further back than rear of oval body mount
frame hole. Dash must not extend more than 24 inches back from top of
firewall. Dash must be flat, rear can be no higher than front, except for
cowl in front of driver. OEM floor pan may be replaced using steel
fabricated floor pan, 18 gauge or minimum 0.049 inch thickness, securely
welded to frame. Floor pan may be replaced from front firewall to rear
halo supports. Must remain flat/OEM appearing from frame rail to frame
rail, can be no higher or lower than frame rail. Exception is maximum
8-inch tall driveshaft tunnel. Tunnel must remain similar to OEM tunnel in
size. No cockpits, interior must remain open. Rear firewall must be steel
and may be located no further forward than rear halo supports and no
higher than bottom of rear opera windows. All holes in firewalls must be
covered with metal.
4. Trunk area may be cut to allow for mandatory fuel cell.
5. The fuel cell must be a steel container with two inch by 1/8 inch steel
strap on each side to securely mount the fuel cell.
6. Body must be mounted in stock location. No exposed tubing or bracing
outside of the bodyline of car. Body must be steel stock appearing body.
Five-Star style all steel body allowed. (no aluminum or fiberglass body
panels allowed).
7. Plastic or aftermarket noses are allowed but cannot be the Late Model
slope aerodynamic type nose. Nose must be stock appearing for make of car.
8. Maximum of a 8" inch tall by 60" inch wide spoiler is allowed.
-Maximum Height: 8" Total Material With Maximum of 3 Vertical Supports.
-Maximum Dimensions On Spoiler Supports: 12" Long at Bottom, 8" Tall at
Rear. 8" Tall May Extend 4" Forward From Back Then Taper To a Maximum of
2" Tall at Front. (For Diagram: Click Here)
9. No open rear body sections allowed.
10. All cars must have tow straps on front and back.
SUSPENSION
1. FRONT SUSPENSION: All components and mounts must be steel, unaltered
OEM, in OEM location and match frame. Rubber, nylon or steel lower A-frame
bushings only - no offset or bearing type. No sway bars. Exceptions are:
weight jacks allowed - must be in original centerline of spring tower; OEM
upper A-frame mount may be moved or replaced with aftermarket steel mount
matching upper A-frame bolt on design; OEM or OEM replacement ball joints
allowed. Aftermarket upper A-frames allowed. Shock location may be moved
and may go through center of aftermarket upper A-frame, but frame cannot
be altered in any way. Single hole shock mounts only.
2. Steering shaft and steering wheel can be modified by adding shaft and
quick release for safety.
3. Steering quickners are allowed.
6. Lower rear training arms to be stock length to frame being used, metric
to metric, Chevelle to Chevelle, etc….
7. Upper rear trailing may be shortened or lengthened to obtain correct
pinion angle.
8. Ford 9 inch rear end allowed, No quick change allowed.
9. Floater rear-ends allowed.
10. Aftermarket bushings are allowed as long as arm is not altered. No
slots or adjustable ends.
12. Aftermarket master cylinders and brake pedals are allowed.
13. Front to rear brake proportional valve permitted.
14. Steel shock body (non adjustable only).
15. Rear adjustable weight jacks are allowed.
TRANSMISSION
1. Stock automatic or manual transmission, mini clutch allowed.
2. No Bert or Brinn style allowed.
3. Aftermarket clutch pedal allowed.
WHEELS AND TIRES
1. Steel racing wheels up to eight inches maximum width are allowed. No
aluminum or mag wheels or homemade wheels are allowed. One inch lug nuts
are mandatory on both sides of the vehicle.
2. The only tire allowed is the Hoosier E-mod tire. D, H, or A compounds.
3. Bead lock on right rear only
ENGINE
1. No aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Any cast iron head is allowed.
2. Aluminum intake manifolds are allowed, exhaust headers are allowed.
Exhaust must exit away from track surface.
3. No roller cams.
4. Aluminum radiators are allowed.
5. The engine and body must be manufactured by the same corporate
manufacturer. (i.e., GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc.)
6. Gas or E85 only (No Alcohol).
7. All cars must have working mufflers.
8. Steel roller tip rockers are allowed. (No full roller rockers are allowed)
9. Engine must not set back any further than #1 spark plug with front ball
joint.
10. Carburetor, any 2 or 4 barrel carburetor allowed.
11. Distributor ignition systems only. No crank triggers, distributor less
ignitions or computers allowed. Capacitive discharge ignition allowed. No
controls in driver compartment.
APPEARANCE
1. Numbers with letters are allowed. Make the letter is large enough to be
seen from the tower.
2. Numbers must measure minimum of 22 inches high by a minimum of 15
inches in width. The thickness of the number must be no less than 3
inches.
3. Color of the number must be contrasting with the car color.
4. Numbers must be located on both doors and the roof of the car. Put the
roof number so it can be read from the tower when the car is in the front
stretch.
5. A 6 inch tall car number required on tail of car.

2010 Pure Stock Rules

2. Full Frame Cars or Trucks only are allowed. Stock O.E.M. Frames only. (No Firebirds or Camaros).
3. A competition-type 4 point roll cage is required and must be
constructed with tubing that is a minimum of one and one-half inches in
diameter, with a minimum of .095 wall thickness. A minimum of three
horizontal door bars is required in the driver’s door (four bars highly
recommended). A minimum of three horizontal door bars are recommended for
the passenger’s side of the car. Three driver protection bars are required
in the windshield ahead of the driver. You may run front and rear bars
through the firewall, with one kicker bar to the frame.
4. May put X in frame.
5. Drivers side door plates are recommended.
6. Frame and all suspension mounts must be in stock location. No
modifications permitted. (NONE!)
7. Maximum of 75 inch width (measured from racing surface of tire).
8. All cars must weigh a minimum of 3000 LBS with driver.
BODY
1. Stock OEM steel body panel only (GM to GM, Ford to Ford etc.)
2. No open rear body sections.
3. After market Five Star style nose and bumper covers permitted.
4. Stock style bumpers only if nose and tailpiece are not used.
5. No spoilers of any kind will be allowed.
6. All body patches or repairs must use steel, no aluminum allowed.
7. All body patches or repairs must match OEM body measurements.
8. Stock firewall front and rear and floor pan with all holes covered with steel only.
9. Interior must be open, front firewall to rear of seat.
10. All cars must have tow straps on front and back.

SUSPENSION
1. All suspension parts must be absolute stock for that make/model/year
with no modifications. NONE!! No lumber, chain, spacer, cutting or welding
allowed.
2. Steel shock body (non adjustable only).
3. All coil springs must be minimum 4.5 inches O.D. and non-progressive
4. Factory mounts on frame must be used - Stock trailing arm upper and
lower - Stock location of lower shock mount - Frame may be welded to body.
5. Steering shaft and steering wheel can be modified by adding shaft and
quick release for safety.
6. Nine inch Ford rear end allowed, but must be mounted like OEM rear end
(centered) for that make and model. (No floater rear ends)
7. Race axles are permitted and highly recommended.
8. Steel driveshaft must be painted white with a safety hoop.
ENGINE
1. Engine block must be exactly as produced by the manufacturer. (No
aluminum blocks)
2. Cast iron cylinder heads only (No angle plug heads allowed).
3. The 500 CFM 4412 Holley is the only carburetor allowed. The choke blade
can be removed, but the original choke tower must be retained. No other
modifications.
4. No roller cams.
5. Aftermarket valve covers allowed. (No stud girdles allowed)
6. OEM non-roller rocker arms only (No roller rockers & No roller tip
rockers).
7. Cast iron intake (no aluminum).
8. Cast iron exhaust (center dump style permitted).
9. Engine must not set back any further than #1 spark plug with front ball joint.
10. Radiator in stock location, aluminum radiators allowed.
11. Must be stock H.E.I. production distributor ignition only. No
capacitive discharge ignition systems. No racing ignition systems
including ignition modules and ignition coil. No MSD, Mallory, etc.
ignition components except spark plug wires.
12. All cars must have working mufflers.
TRANSMISSION
1. Stock automatic or manual OEM transmission. OEM size clutch and converter.
2. Flywheels & flex plates must be steel, no aluminum.
3. No triple disk clutches.
4. Steel scatter shield mandatory.
5. No Hydraulic throughout bearings.
BRAKES
1. No altering of stock brakes allowed.
2. Cars must have functional brakes on all 4 wheels.
3. No brake bias/proportional valve permitted.
4. Rear disc brakes allowed
GAS TANK INSTALLATION
1. Fuel cell mandatory. 32 gal. maximum capacity. Bracing in trunk for
fuel cell permitted.
2. No electric fuel pumps permitted. No fuel lines in the driver compartment.
3. Tech inspector must approve installation.
4. Fuel line from trunk to the engine compartment must be steel or steel
braided.
5. Gas or E85 only (no nitro and no alcohol).
6. Minimum 12 inches ground clearance for fuel cell.
WHEELS & TIRES
1. Reinforced steel racing type wheels mandatory.
2. Maximum wheel width is 8 inches.
3. One-inch lug nuts are mandatory on all four corners.
4. Right rear only bead locks permitted.
5. Any DOT tire with a maximum size of 235/75.
6. No grooving, sipping, or soaking allowed.
APPEARANCE
1. Numbers with letters are allowed. Make the letter is large enough to be
seen from the tower.
2. Numbers must measure minimum of 22 inches high by a minimum of 15
inches in width. The thickness of the number must be no less than 3
inches.
3. Color of the number must be contrasting with the car color.

Safety Rules
All cars must have 4 point roll cage and a minimum of three drivers side protection bars.
Five point seat belt system required.
Racing seat mandatory.
Window nets mandatory.
Full fire retardant driving suit is required.
Cars
Open to all 6 and 8 cylinder rear wheel drive American passenger cars.
No aluminum blocks, heads or intake allowed.
Any carburetor is allowed.
DOT passenger car tires only, no racing tires of any type allowed.
All steel OEM bodies only, aftermarket nose and bumper covers allowed. No spoilers of any type allowed.
